SCHUMANN’S PIANO QUARTET

Heard Melvin Chen on the piano and members of the Miro Quartet at the Maverick on Sunday. One of the pieces they played was the Schumann Piano Quartet. Many fans of classical music don’t know this work, and I didn’t get to know it until I was over 60.

Its third movement is one of my favorite pieces of music. If this epitome of emotional Romanticism is new to you, you’ll thank me!
