This morning our local public radio station played “Tubby the Tuba.” I hadn’t heard it since I was a kid, but I remembered how its message spoke to me then (as it spoke to me now): everyone can have a tune of his or her own that the other instruments will want to join in playing.
That is, you can be unique, like a tuba, and you don’t have to become like everyone else, which a tuba can’t. If you have a good tune–which Tubby learns from a frog–you’ll make fine music with the whole orchestra.
